Beautiful Art, Addicting Gameplay, Amazing Music
Ive never enjoyed "find the [insert word]" games before, but The Tiny Bang Story mixes this kind of gameplay (along with many other elements) into a constructive logic puzzle that results in some very enjoyable experiences. I just completed the game and wanted to leave my thoughts for those who are considering buying, so there they are :)
The art is truly incredible and unlike anything Ive seen in a game before. Its music took my breath away and the creative gameplay elements were refreshing. Perhaps most inspiring, however, was the way the game is presented: There are no words! Everything in the game is completely visual (even the conversations with non-playing characters, which are pop-up images that show a flow: give me this and Ill give you that). This kept my eyes on the beautiful art and my mind in the logic of the game - free of distractions. Even though the game wasnt extremely long, I decided to play it in chunks (not all at once); I never felt that it was too short (but would love to see a sequel!). Even though Im 25 and have an affinity for mathematics/logic, the puzzels were challenging enough to keep me interested for the entirety of the game - but also werent so difficult that I became frustrated or wanted to quit playing. I think people of all ages could enjoy this game; and maybe even be an interesting tool to help children visualize logical progression (with a parent, of course).
Alltogether, The Tiny Bang Story offered up a tasty treat (so to speak) that was both rewarding and memorable.
** One side note: This game is fueled completely off of the ability to be intuitive and Colibri does an excellend job! Very few things fell through the cracks, but I noticed one element that I didnt seem to naturally pick up until later in the game. The flies (that you can collect) are actually tied into the games Hint system. Once you collect enough flies, the fly with red eyes (in the top-right, viewable in the screenshots above) disappears and the ? button becomes blue. If you click this button when on a screen that has a collectable, the red fly will leave the button and move toward what you need to click on next. If youre in a puzzel, however, clicking this button will show you how to solve the puzzle. The deterrant for this is every time you use the Hint button, your flies are emptied and you have to refill the button before you can use it again (by collecting more flies).
However, if you click the button and the fly doesnt zoom out after something to collect, then there is nothing to collect on that screen and you can move on to a different area to continue your search.
